Shawnl In testing the WR51X10055 heater element in my freezer, I get 22 Ohms at room temperature (element removed from the freezer). Is that right? Or does it need to be replaced? I'm trying to figure out whether my icing coils problem is the heater element or the thermostat, or something else. Thanks.
Answer Shawn, Getting a resistance of 22 ohms means that the heater is good. If there is a thermistor in the freezer on top of the left side of the evaporator then test it for 5K ohms at room temp. If it does not check good then it is defective and would need replaced. Also check to make sure that the defrost limiter is showing closed. If these parts check ok then replace the main control board. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, July 13, 2015
