Steffanie for Model Number GE Refrigerator PSHS6TGXBDSS My fridge and freezer departments are too warm at 33 and 55 degrees. The compresssor is running but the temperature does not go down. When I open the freezer door I hear a noticeable humming noise. The backside of the freezer department has ice buildup on the inside. Which parts would I have most likely to replace, please?
Answer Hello Steffanie, if the evap fan motor is not running or is seized it would cause he humming and then a frost build-up, also if the defrost heater is not working it can again cause a frost build-up and likely jam the fan motor. The defrost theater uses a clear quartz tube, check if the heating element inside the tube has failed, it can also be checked using a multimeter. Another test would be to manually defrost the freezer, then restart the ref if the fan runs its likely a defrost problem. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Friday, May 29, 2020
