Michael B for Model Number GE ZIS42 Have an older GE Monogram (~1994) and it has been having problems with the coils freezing up. Ordered an Icing Kit, but given the age is there other parts I should replace while I have it at this level of tear down.
Answer Michael, There should be no other parts required but with the unit icing up you will want to make sure that the defrost system is working by testing the defrost heater for continuity, and the defrost thermistor to make sure that it has proper resistance. The resistance should be 42.2K ohms at 0 degrees, 14.4K ohms at 36 degrees and 5K ohms at room temperature of 77 degrees. If not correct then replace the part. Read More...
