John for Model Number CGS990SET3SS Thank you for your answer and the part numbers for my upper oven issue. If the problem is either the upper oven igniter or the upper valve control asm, is there a way to determine which one is actually the problem before I resort to trial and error of replacing parts? FYI, I do see the upper oven bake igniter turning orange but it doesn’t look like it gets as bright as the upper oven broil igniter.
Answer Hello John, thank you for contacting APP, If you have a multimeter you can remove the glowbar and take a resistance reading on it, this should be between 50 and 150Os resistance, you can also check the amp draw of the glowbar if you have an amp clamp by placing it around one of the wires to the glowbar and taking a reading with the igniter glowing, this should be about 3.2-3.7amps. If either of those is reading out of range then the glowbar has failed. If the glowbar checks good it is a failure of the valve assembly. Read More...
