Fernando for Model Number JBP78WOB2WW I need to replace my infinte switch for the right front dual burner. The symptoms are: If I turn the knob switch on or off it works, but if I turn the knob to low stays high all the time. I recently replaced the actual heating element because the center area stop working. Now it works but cannot control the heating. Also I tested for continuity in the actual infinite switch and having the switch turned off I still got continuity from L2 to H2 (which assume should not have when the switch is off). The other tests did work (continuity on l1-h1 l2-h2 l1-p when the switch is on). My question is: I've been told my old switch wb24t0031 is discontinued and I should get wb24t10058; however when I look at the back part my old it has 5 connectors; labeled P1, L1, L2, H1 and H2 but the new model seems to have 6. Also I read someone having trouble due to the new model having different labels. ( I cannot see the labels from the picture) Before I buy the part I would like to know what the correct mapping is from my old part to the new one.
Answer Fernando, You are correct, All circuits should be "open" when the infinite switch is in the "OFF" position. Since L2 and H2 circuits are "closed" on your switch WB24T10058, you will need to replace it. We will send you the wiring information for the repalcement switch, so you will have an idea of how to wire the new switch, you'll see it's not complicated at all. Read More...
