Ralph for Model Number 363.9504785 Kenmore When replacing the bottom hinge pin on the freezer door, is it necessary to turn off the water supply to ice maker as well as the water dispenser before making repairs? When you disconnect the water union behind the kick plate will the water from refrigerator reservoir drain through the fill tube?
Answer Hello Ralph, The water does not have to be turned off but it is a good idea to unplug the refrigerator during the repair. The water pressure will not pass through the water inlet valve unless dispense is activated. The icemaker water is not related to the water dispense at all past the water supply that is connected to the refrigerator. Disconnecting the water tube at the base of the freezer door should only allow the water in the tube from the connection point up to the dispenser to run out. This will amount to a handful of water only. The water reservoir side is not open to atmosphere so it cannot run out. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, September 18, 2018
