Bill for Model Number JBP30BB2WH So, testing the bake element for resistance. I took it out of the oven and set my digital multimeter at 200 ohms. Connected the leads to the ends of the element and got a reading of 20 plus or minus. If I reverse the leads, the reading goes up about 5 points. What does that mean? Is that showing the element is good or not? Or is my technique in need of adjustment? The multimeter I am using can be seen in order #3777098. Help! Bill
Answer Hello Bill, The bake element will read the same resistance in either direction. The difference in your readings was most likely either a variance in the test meter lead connection to the meter or the connection to the spade terminal on the element itself. Try it several times again and I think you will see what I mean. This bake element is a 3410W element so it should read 16.9 ohms give or take 10%. With a 20 ohm reading, there shouldn't be an issue with this element. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, October 31, 2013
