Wayne for Model Number jbp78wob1ww When the oven was turned on the element burst into flame, and continued to slowly burn along the element, even after the oven switch was turned off. It wouldn't stop until I unpluged the stove. Are one of the element wires hot all the time? Even when the oven switch is turned off? Or does this indicate other problems?
Answer Wayne, Yes, the L2(red), 120 VAC power supply is constant to the bake and broil elements, as long as the power at the outlet is present. The L1(black) 120 VAC power supply is through the ERC/Clock relays. There are a couple of possibilities that occurred, the element WB44T10011 may have degraded collapsed and shorted to the chassis. There could have been some spillage in the oven that migrated through the carborundum coating of the element, causing it to flame up. Read More...
