Cb for Model Number RGB745WEHCWW Need to replace oven igniter (will be getting igniter #WB2X9154) on my Hotpoint oven. Never did this before and scared, especially around gas/electric, but I can't afford a professional. I'm specifically unsure of splicing the wires from the old igniter on to the new igniter. I've never done that before. I'm a handy lady, but I'm afraid of getting this wrong (don't want to blow myself up). No matter how many repair videos I watch on this repair, they never show the steps up close enough for me to be confident about what I will encounter when I do this. I'm resolved to do this so could you give me any advice in doing this repair? I'm afraid to even turn off the gas behind the stove because I've never done that before. Our house is over 60 yrs. old and I'm afraid of loosening the gas connection just by turning it off. No, I've never smelled gas from behind the stove, but it kind of freaks me out. Can you tell me what size tools I should use? Any advice or help would be appreciated. Sorry about so many questions, but like I said, I can't get this wrong. Thanks!
Answer CB, If you turn off the power to the unit, you would not need to turn off the gas but is best to do. For this you will need either a phillips head screwdriver or 1/4" nut driver to remove the igniter. Once you remove the oven bottom remove the igniter and cut the wires. Strip the wires down from the end about a 1/4" to 1/2" and wire nut the new igniter to the existing wires. then reinstall. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, July 26, 2017
