Bryan for Model Number JGSS05GEN1BG GEXL44 What signals the safety valve to turn the gas on and off. I have 120 volts coming through the igniter, but I have no gas and no ignition. Does the gas valve sense heat from the ignitor or does the gas valve turn on the ignitor with an internal relay or what?
Answer Hello Bryan. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve WB19K13. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter WB2X9154 will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
