John for Model Number Sears 3627526891 I went to turn on the oven, and it won't light. The broiler also will not light off. Neither ignitor is glowing with No gas smell. Also the clock has not been bright for years(you can see the numbers if you look real close) and the oven just work about 3 days ago. My question is which way should I go with this? Should I replace the gas valve or is there a control unit that could go bad?
Answer Hello John. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
