Phil for Model Number 911.3042992 We have a sears gas wall oven and recently went to bake in the oven and noticed that it would not heat up regardless of the temperature setting. The broiler works fine either in the HI or LO mode and the igniter glows. According to the parts manual both of the igniters have the same part numbers. Does the oven have to be pulled out from the wall to replace either igniter. I noticed that regardless of the temperature setting for the oven it will default to 100 degrees for a couple of minutes then shut off. Is this an indication that it is the igniter is the problem. Thank You
Answer Hello Phil. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
