Customer Questions and Answers for Compressor Start Relay by Ge

Part Number: OEM11388207
Manufacturer Part Number: WR07X10057

The Compressor Start Relay is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. It plays an important role in allowing the refrigerator's compressor to power on. The start relay controls the initial energizing of the compressor until the control circuit signals it to remain powered.

Causes of a bad start relay can include failure over many power cycling events or damage to its internal electrical components. Without a properly functioning start relay, the compressor will not receive the signal needed to turn on.

Symptoms of a bad start relay include:

  • The refrigerator fails to cool and the compressor remains inactive
  • Abnormally long cool-down times after door openings
  • Fluctuating interior temperatures

This replacement relay is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Chuck for Model Number PSS26SGPASS

Sorry for long post. Basic question: is wr07x10055 an acceptable replacement for wr07x10033? I was told this by local parts dealer and I installed with temporary success. Now I suspect main board. Details below. Woke up to a warm freezer and fridge. Fridge fan blowing when door closed and evaperator fan comes on in freezer if door open for more than three minutes. Temp controls accept commands. Compressor not running. Installed new start relay and compressor started immediately. Frig and freezer cooled down to 0 and 37 deg respectively. Next morning back to 50 degrees in both compartments. Pressed both freezer and frig temp buttons to check set points (still set to 0 and 37) and compressor started. Both compartments cooled down to desired temps and held all day and evening. Next morning, back to 50 degrees. Now, no amount of power removal or temp setting changes will start the compressor. Troubleshooting so far: Checked compressor resistance for opens or shorts - good Checked thermistor resistances at room temp - good approx 5k ohms Checked defrost heater and terminating thermostat resistance - good 22 ohms Voltage between J11 and J8 on board - good 120 vac Voltage between orange wire on comp relay and black wire on overload -0 bad? Does this seem like a main board failure? Are there any other checks I should make? Run capacitor maybe? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer

Hello Chuck. Yes, it sounds like the main board on the unit.
