Ralph March 26, 2022 for Model Number PSS26NGPAWW Refrigerator cooling properly. Periodically makes +/- 6 very loud clicks. Very annoying at night. Replaced controller board because one of the suggested causes. Still clicking. Which is more likely problem - start capacitor or start relay?
1 Answer Ralph, It would be more likely that the start relay would cause the unit to make a clicking noise. Read More...
Al February 08, 2022 for Model Number GSS25VGMBWW How do I know if the relay is good or not. the compressor does not run. I don't want to replace the relay if not needed. Is there a way to check it?
1 Answer Al, the compressor overload WR08X10026 would need to be tested for 120VAC to identify if the compressor is receiving voltage or not. If it is, the refrigerator power cord would need to be unplugged and the overload tested for continuity from the terminal to the compressor side port. If there is continuity, this will identify that the compressor or the start relay WR07X10057 would be the cause of failure. If there was clicking when the compressor was receiving voltage, the failure is in the relay. If there was not, the failure would likely be in the compressor. Read More...
Brandon November 04, 2021 for Model Number PSS26SGRBSS Compressor is not running, the fan is spins freely, when I disconnected the fan motor and checked the power connector there was no power to the fan motor. I also checked the Run capacitor and found it had no continuity. The light inside both the fridge and freezer doors work but the water/ice dispenser selector lights are not coming on and does not dispense when the lever is pressed. I checked the Fuse on the main motherboard and it is good. What else should I check? what could be a potential problem?
1 Answer Brandon, This issue will most likely be caused by a faulty control board with the compressor and the fan not working. Read More...
Cesar U January 12, 2021 for Model Number DSS25KGRBWW My GE refrigerator model: DSS25KGRBWW, PTCR is not functioning. I need to know if replacing the WR07X10057 OEM item with WR07X10055 is okay. I'm asking because of two reasons: Price and Recommendations. Last week I was in the GEAppliances.com website and I entered the refrigerator model # and I got an "out of stock" message and a suggested PTCR # ending in 55. This week I did it again and the OEM was in stock. I checked both prices on the internet and there is $40 difference in price. Are they interchangeable for my refrigerator? The pump has #: DC57C84RCU6. Thanks for your help.
1 Answer Cesar, These 2 relays would be similar enough where you could use one in place of the other. Read More...
Jerry February 28, 2018 for Model Number zfsb26drass Appliance just stopped working, lights on but nothing else. Seemed to be running hard prior to quitting
1 Answer Jerry, This will most likely be a main control board that is faulty and would need part number WR55X10942C. Sounds like the unit may have stuck in defrost. Read More...
Jacob June 13, 2015 for Model Number PSS25MGMBBB Can you send a photo of the Ptcr with the wires so I can see which wires go to which terminals. I recently wired in a universal relay and capacitor unit when my fridge stopped working which got it up and running until I received the proper parts. Now I wish to replace the universal with the proper parts. Thanks
1 Answer Jacob, Unfortunately there is a not a picture of the ptcr that shows it wired up in order to send. Based on the wiring diagram of the unit there is a black wire which will connect to the overload, the orange wire will go to the number 2 terminal, the one directly across from the one labeled 3. Chuck June 07, 2015 for Model Number PSS26SGPASS Sorry for long post. Basic question: is wr07x10055 an acceptable replacement for wr07x10033? I was told this by local parts dealer and I installed with temporary success. Now I suspect main board. Details below. Woke up to a warm freezer and fridge. Fridge fan blowing when door closed and evaperator fan comes on in freezer if door open for more than three minutes. Temp controls accept commands. Compressor not running. Installed new start relay and compressor started immediately. Frig and freezer cooled down to 0 and 37 deg respectively. Next morning back to 50 degrees in both compartments. Pressed both freezer and frig temp buttons to check set points (still set to 0 and 37) and compressor started. Both compartments cooled down to desired temps and held all day and evening. Next morning, back to 50 degrees. Now, no amount of power removal or temp setting changes will start the compressor. Troubleshooting so far: Checked compressor resistance for opens or shorts - good Checked thermistor resistances at room temp - good approx 5k ohms Checked defrost heater and terminating thermostat resistance - good 22 ohms Voltage between J11 and J8 on board - good 120 vac Voltage between orange wire on comp relay and black wire on overload -0 bad? Does this seem like a main board failure? Are there any other checks I should make? Run capacitor maybe? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Mona March 18, 2015 for Model Number GSS25LGMACC The "Ptcr"...is that an acronym for something? I think I have a faulty relay going into my compressor. Is this 'ptcr' also known as a 'relay'?
1 Answer Hello Mona. Yes, PTCR WR07X10057 stands for Positive Temperature Coefficient Relay. Read More...
Lenny Z December 29, 2014 for Model Number GE GSS25LGPA WW Have GE side by side refrigerator stop working cleaned everything up in back. Started up worked fine for about a week got warmer again unplugged for couple of days. Plugged back in working again but notice that sometimes when It tries to kick the compressor in it will try to kick in but won't and other times kicks in and runs fine Could it be the compressor relay switch? Running cool but thing it could run cooled then it is.
1 Answer Lenny, If the units compressor is not coming on all the time when it is time for it to then you will want to make sure that the condenser fan is running. And if it is then replace the relay on the compressor as it is faulty. Read More...
John November 07, 2014 for Model Number Regrigerator GE PSS26MGPABB GE profile side-by-side isn't cooling on both sides. Lights. Fan work. The compressor doesn't seem to come up. I checked compressor pins. They are giving correct resistance, so I think compressor could be working. I checked the relay. I don't hear any cranking noise when I shake it. When I checked the VAC on the input pins of relay, it shows up as 0.00. I thought it should read around 120. Not sure what to check next, and what could be wrong here. Will appreciate any help.
1 Answer Hello John. If the fans are running, but there is no voltage to the compressor, you will need to order and replace the main control board WR55X10942C on the unit. Read More...
