Vince for Model Number GE Profile Performance Refrigerator Model# TFX28PBBEWW I found that the PTCR rattled when I pulled it off, but resistance values were 0.6 ohms on the left side (power in #2) and about 3.0 ohms on #3 (connector numbers on the TI 8EA801 PTCR). I was getting the click, humm a few seconds, then click with no cooling to refrigerator, i.e. it didn't seem like compressor was running. I went from 117V to about 102V when it was humming. I also showed low resistance on both windings. Everyone seems to mention the rattling as bad. I am planning on buying the PTCR. Should I automatically buy the overload relay, even though it showed continuity with a low resistance across it?
Answer Vince, The PTCR WR07X10099 Has no moving parts internally, so a "rattle" indicates a failed component. We would reccomend you "play" it safe and replace both parts WR08X10006, most experienced repair persons do. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Friday, February 22, 2013
