Juan for Model Number P P980B0M1BB Hi, I have a GE profile cooktop part # "P P980B0M1BB" and I am getting code F153 and the "hot surface" indicator light for the front right element is on constantly. Can you tell me exactly which part I need? Also I am very handy, is this something I can replace myself? Do I need to perform any special procedures? Or can I just simply swap the parts? Thanks.
Answer Juan, the right front element WB30T10062 would need to be inspected for a broken heating ribbon, and the sensor tested for a resistance between 1030-1150 Ohms. If the element ribbon or the sensor test failed, the element would need to be replaced. If they are good, the main control WB27X33352 would need to be replaced and recalibrated. This is a test and repair that can be done after the power supply is turned off and the cooktop is lifted out of the counter. The glass top can be removed by taking the screws out just under the lip of the glass and lifting it up. This will give access to both the element and the control. Read More...
