Manufacturer Part Number: WD02X10109

The Upper Spray Arm Screw is an OEM replacement part for GE dishwashers. It is a component that secures the upper spray arm into place inside the dishwasher tub. The spray arm is responsible for distributing water above the top rack during wash cycles to help rinse and clean dishes.

Causes of a bad upper spray arm screw can include wear and tear from extended use that results in a loose or stripped screw. Failure to secure the spray arm properly affects washing performance.

Symptoms of an improperly fastened upper spray arm include:

  • Water not spraying properly from the arm jets
  • Loose or rattling noises coming from inside the tub

This part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and select Kenmore dishwashers.

Bill for Model Number ZBD6880K00SS

The bolt for the upper spray arm goes through the conduit, but then it screws into a machined piece of steel that is connected to the inside/top of the dishwasher. We'd like to know if this solid piece of machined steel can be removed and replaced... and how is it attached, eg, does the dishwasher have to be removed so I can put a wrench on a top nut? Or is the nut for this piece of steel welded/attached to the top/outside of the steel tub? Can this piece of steel with the busted-off bolt in it even be replaced? It is notched at its base, it looks like to help remove, but don't want to just wrench it off and break it! Thanks for any help.

Answer

Bill, Thanks for the question!!! The nut appears to be part of the tub assembly. GE does not offer the tub assembly as a service part. Your best option would be to uninstall the unit and see if the nut will come off (no loss if you break it as for the time bring your dishwasher is unrepairable, due to no part being available). If the nut happens to come off, take it to a local hardware store to match it up.
