Symptoms of a bad control board include:

  • Failure to start or complete cycles

Eric for Model Number GDT580SGF6WW

Dishwasher control doesn't light up unless I push START and SELECT CYCLE at the same time. Everything lights up, display has no codes. When the start button is pressed the lights all go out but for the two panel lock buttons. Pressing any button at this point clears the remaining lights and the control panel is again unresponsive. This all occurred after a series of power blips during a wind storm. I was thinking the Service Machine Control might be the culprit but would appreciate a professional opinion. Many Thanks!!

Answer

Eric, it would be recommended that the main control WD21X24899 is inspected for a blinking LED when the start button is pressed. If it blinks in a pattern of 3 times every 3 seconds, then the main control is attempting to run a cycle but is not sending voltage and it would need to be replaced.
