Questions & Answers

For Ge Electronic Control Board (Part Number: OEM20916195)

1 Answer

Ron, as the main control WD21X22276 and heating element WD05X30818 have been changed out, the TCO from the harness would need to be tested for continuity from the violet wire with white stripe at the heater to the violet wire at the main control connection J702. If there is not continuity, the harness and pump kit WD49X23781 would need to be replaced.

Wet, If the heater and the thermal are good then yes it would be the main control board that is faulty and would need to be replaced.

Wallace, if the main control WD21X24899 on the bottom of the dishwasher is accessed, there will be a service LED that can indicate a failure based on the number of flashes within 3 seconds. If it is only flashing once per 3 seconds, the connection J703 would need to be tested for 120VAC from the brown and red wire at pin 3 to the yellow and black wire at pin 2 during a cycle. If there is 120VAC after the unit fills with water, the motor kit WD49X23781 would need to be replaced.

Dishwasher control doesn't light up unless I push START and SELECT CYCLE at the same time. Everything lights up, display has no codes. When the start button is pressed the lights all go out but for the two panel lock buttons. Pressing any button at this point clears the remaining lights and the control panel is again unresponsive. This all occurred after a series of power blips during a wind storm. I was thinking the Service Machine Control might be the culprit but would appreciate a professional opinion. Many Thanks!!

Eric, it would be recommended that the main control WD21X24899 is inspected for a blinking LED when the start button is pressed. If it blinks in a pattern of 3 times every 3 seconds, then the main control is attempting to run a cycle but is not sending voltage and it would need to be replaced.

All the dishwasher LED display lights show up and it does the correct cycles and drains but the water is not hot and it does not dry the dishes either. I took it out and tested the heating element and got 16 ohms. When I turned the power back on and ran the diagnosis tool for the heater I did not get any voltage readings coming into the heating element lead connections. Is the issue the Service Machine control? Have not taken it out and looked for the LED light flashing yet but was not sure what code to look for as well.

1 Answer

Andrew, There is a thermostat that you will want to check to make sure that it is good. If it tests good for continuity then the issue will be the control board.

Joe, at the main control board at the bottom, there will be an LED that might be flashing once the control housing is opened. If it is flashing 7 times within 3 seconds, then there was an overcurrent issue. In this case, the heater WD05X30818 would need to be replaced and the software would need to be updated using the SUM module WD98R2327901.
