Eric for Model Number JVM1540LM1CS The light bulb burnt out on this GE microwave(for the stove top lighting). I replaced the bulb...now the light just stays on, I can not adjust the brightness or turn it off. I tried unplugging for 5 minutes and letting it restart...no dice. Every other function button is operating properly, except the light button. Is there any way to fix, other than purchasing a whole new smart panel ?? Thanks!
Answer Hi Eric. Remove the top grill, and control panel top plate. This will give access to the top control panel mount screw. Remove this screw and lift up and out to access the wiring diagram and tech sheet. This will guide you in the component checks. Use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist you in your diagnostics. You need to see if the control panel(keypad) is inoperative. Or if the ribbon cable going to the control board part # WB27X10931 is bad. It comes with the keypad. You use the ohm meter on the end of the keypad ribbon cable and press the bad keypad keys to see if they are opening or closing. If the ribbon cable is good then focus on the lamp relay yellow wire output from the board 120 volts to ground. If you do not get the output on this wire then replace the smart board. Thank You.
