By: Ge
Part Number: OEM11010474
Manufacturer Part Number: WR02X10585

The Door Recess Spring is an OEM replacement part for GE side-by-side refrigerators. It sits within the icemaker door frame to control movement and allow smooth closing/opening of the access point.

Causes of a bad icemaker door recess spring include wear and tear of thin metal coils repeatedly compressing over many years of filling cycles. Exposure to humidity intrusions from melting ice accumulates oxidation shortening spring elasticity.

Symptoms of a bad icemaker door recess spring include:

  • Difficulty opening and shutting the icemaker access door securely
  • Excessive slamming noise caused by abrupt closing
  • Sagging or improper alignment of the door against the frame
  • Struggles retaining positioning of the transparent plastic doorway

This genuine GE replacement spring is compatible with Hotpoint, RCA and Kenmore models.

Answer

Sam, Here are the basics from the service manual, "The dispenser assembly consists of the interface, display board, dispenser shield, and duct door functioning parts. The dispenser interface can be removed to access the display board and the dispenser shield mounting screws. The interface is held in place by 4 tabs that hold it to the dispenser recess. To remove the interface, it is necessary to grasp the bottom lip of the interface on either side and gently pull it towards you. There are 3 wire harnesses connected to the display board.Note: The interface and display board are replaced as a complete assembly. When assembling, insert top tabs into the top of dispenser recess fi rst, then snap the bottom into place. The dispenser shield can be removed to access the cradle switch, duct door, duct door solenoid, and dispenser LED lights. The dispenser shield is attached to the dispenser recess with 4 Phillipshead screws. Note: The dispenser LED lights cannot be replaced individually. The dispenser shield and LED lights are replaced as an assembly. Check model number for correct assembly." You now have access to the solenoid mounting screws and flapper assembly and spring. Remember to unplug the power cord or turn power off to the fridge, before you start. Good Luck and Thanks
