Peggy November 18, 2020 for Model Number PSI23MGMBBB How do I get the front cover off of the ice/water touchscreen to replace the ice maker assembly and spring? The entire section looks like one piece instead of like in the videos. Do I need to unscrew anything regarding the light bulb area or just know where the tabs are to insert the putty knife to release the front cover. I have the model where I could put in wood inserts to match my cabinets above and below the ice/water dispenser touch screen area.
1 Answer Peggy, to remove the dispenser user interface, there will be three little divots under the display that can be used to press up on the lock tab securing the display to the housing while the refrigerator power supply cord is unplugged. This will allow the display to rotate out from the bottom so that the dispenser housing can be accessed to remove it. The following link can be used as a reference to gain access to and remove the dispenser housing. https://www.appliancepartspros.com/ge-housing-shield-disp-wr17x11170-ap3187506.html#autoplay Read More...
John June 17, 2020 for Model Number gfss6kkycss I have ordered the spring for the French door which broke recently. I don't see any videos or instruction on how to install the spring on this particular model. I can't quite figure out how it is laid in there or what it looks like.
1 Answer John, On the bottom hinge of the french assembly, there is a hole that one side of the spring goes into and then there is a hole on the french assembly itself that the other side will go into. The spring portion should face inward toward the french assembly. Read More...
1 Answer Dan, with the power supply to the dishwasher turned off, the front panel and console would need to be removed. From there, the top cross plate on the console would need to be removed to allow access to the spring and handle to change out the spring. Read More...
John December 05, 2019 for Model Number GFSS6KKYESS The spring to the left side french door broke. Now I have to push the flap closed in order to fully close the refrigerator. What is the part number to replace the spring? Thank you
Jack October 20, 2019 for Model Number GSC23KSTASS I replaced spring and it was better. But the flap door still did not snap shut 100% of the time. Do do they make a stronger spring or do I need to replace the flap? The flap looks fine and solenoid seems ok too.
1 Answer Jack, the door flapper WR17X11653 should be inspected for any sections that may be bent inwards excessively as this can cause the door to not close fully and leave a small gap. It is possible that the solenoid is catching the arm and not allowing the door to shut fully. Also, if the spring was not turned one full revolution, it will not create a full tension to allow the spring to pull the door shut fully. Read More...
James October 14, 2019 for Model Number PS123SGNA BS I have a very slow water leak from the right side of the bezel that surrounds the water/ice dispenser on our GE Profile refrigerator. Should I replace the solenoid and flapper or is there another likely reason for this moisture build up on the front of the freezer door? Thanks
1 Answer James, Open the freezer door and look at the ice door and see if it is sealing. If not then most likely that is the reason for the moisture build up and the solenoid and ice door should solve the problem. WR17X11653 WR62X10055 Read More...
Rachel October 25, 2018 for Model Number GFSS6KKYESS The spring on my refrigerator broke off and I manually have to push the flap of the door down before I can close it correctly. Which spring number is correct for my General Electric model number?

Tommy Thompson July 10, 2017 for Model Number GSE26GSEBCSS The refrigerator freezer has frost build up in and around the chute. Frost is also building up from the ice bucket where the ice drops through the chute. No light is visible when I look down through the chute. No rust is on the solenoid. What could be causing the warm air to enter through the chute?
1 Answer Tommy, If you use "crushed ice" a lot, the chute can develop an "ice dam" at the bottom of the chute and keep the door flapper from sealing, intermittently. Then check the door crank, spring and solenoid, most likely a weak spring. check and clean the linkage and dash pot on the solenoid assembly and check everything for excess wear and tear. Simon May 16, 2016 for Model Number GEW9250PW0 I was getting frost build up in the ice chute. The flapper wasn't closing all the way so I replaced it and the solenoid. The flapper closes now (I can hear it shut) but there is still frost building up in the chute and at the opening of the ice bin. Is it possible that the flapper doesn't have a good seal? Should I replace the spring??
1 Answer Hello Simon. Make sure the flap is not damaged. If not, then you will need to replace the spring on the unit. Read More...
Greengarnet March 31, 2016 for Model Number GSS 25JSRE SS My fridge is leaking (dripping) water from the flap in freezer door. Flap was changed, but leak is still there. Output is about 2 tablespoons of water per 24 hour period. What part needs changing/ adjusting - to correct this problem?
1 Answer Greengarnet, You will want to check to make sure that the ice door is closing all the way.If it is not then you may need a new dispenser solenoid. Check the solenoid for rust on the shaft. If there is then replace the solenoid. The solenoid part number is WR62X10055. Read More...
