Annie for Model Number GTDP490ED3WS I have a 3 year old GE dryer (model number: GTDP490ED3WS) and it stopped running. The start switch buzzes when pushed. The door light comes on when opened. I was able to "jump start" the dryer by pressing in the door switch, spinning the drum and pushing the start button. The dryer turns on but there is a strong burning smell. It does heat. So far I have replaced the start switch, the door switch and the thermal fuse as well as flipping the breaker. I have cleaned the dryer as well as the tubing thoroughly. (It was EXTREMELY dirty at first though) I replaced the parts despite them all having continuity. All of the thermostats have continuity as well (though I did not completely pull them out of the dryer before testing continuity). Can anyone help me? PLEASE?
Answer Annie, With having to turn the drum by hand while pushing the start button then this would be a bad start winding on the motor and will require the motor to be replaced. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, June 29, 2017
