Michael for Model Number CTX14AYBNRWW The freezer does not get as cold as it used to (ice cream melts, ice sometimes freezes). Everything seems to work, I have checked the coil (no frost) and fans (spin freely) and cleaned everything (removed dust buildup underneath). Is it possible the defrost cycle is working poorly? It seems that sometimes it freezes almost properly, then stops freezing. Could it be the defrost timer? Or the defrost thermostat?
Answer Michael, You didn't mention a problem in the refrigerator, so you'll want to check and make sure the both doors are closing and sealing properly. Since the fan" fans (spin freely)" and there is no ice on the evaporator coil, the defrost thermostat or timer aren't a likely issue either. you'll want to check the freezer air tunnel and air control actuator to make sure the actuator hasn't broken or come loose from the control shaft and knob. Then consider the cold control, it may have intermittent contacts and not supplying the power to the cooling system, but you should notice the refrigerator getting warm as well. Read More...
