Scott for Model Number HTS18GBRERWW I have a Hotpoint HTS18GBRERWW fridge. I have noticed occasionally food in the freezer seemed to have thawed a bit. I recently replaced the evaporator fan motor because it was making noise, and I was hoping that it was also the cause of the warming problem since it perhaps wasn't spinning adequately. The fridge and freezer were working quiet and cold for a few hours so I had placed food back in. Couple hours later I notice the back inside of the freezer was hot and food was starting to thaw. I am wondering what part to replace, defrost thermostat or timer, or both? I have read the thermostat is supposed to keep the defrost heater from getting to warm so it is my main guess since it doesn't seem to be kicking the heater off. I would appreciate your input.
Answer Hello Scott. You need to check and see if the unit is sticking in the defrost cycle. If so, then the timer WR9X502 is bad and will need to be replaced. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, November 24, 2014
