Eric L for Model Number PVM1870DM1BB I have a GE Profile Microwave Model PVM1870DM1BB. Initially the microwave would lose power when the door was closed. When the door was opened the power would return and after the clock was reset the vent fan and light would work. Once the door was closed power would again be lost. I initially replaced all of the door switches as you recommended did not solve the problem. While working on the switches I notice one of the connectors for the thermostat was blackened. I have since replaced the thermostat but am concerned that it shorted or it was somehow compromised in the first place. What could cause the thermostat to fail? Could another component's failure cause the thermostat connector to short/blacken? The microwave works for the time being but do not want to have an internal fire.
Answer Eric, The switches failing would cause the thermostat to fail. By changing all the switches then this would have corrected the issue along with replacing the thermostat. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, July 15, 2013
