Glenda for Model Number GE MODEL # DBXR463ED2WW Our dryer will run for hours on end, and gets so hot we cannot touch the top. The timer barely moves from its original position, requiring manual advancing to the stop position. The vent has been cleaned, so that is not the problem. Could this be due to a faulty thermostat? If not, what would your suggestion be as to the cause of this overheating? Look forward to your answer.
Answer Hello Glenda. Yes, it could be the thermostat or the timer may be bad on the unit. Test for power to the timer motor. If it is there, and it is not moving, replace the timer. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
