Ben for Model Number WJRR4170G2WW I think I have a bad timer for my GE washer, model WJRR4170G2WW. For all cycles, the tub fills with water but then the agitator does not activate or move. The cycles all continue through with draining, rinsing, spinning, etc, but the agitator never engages. Could this be a timer issue? I also checked the agitator coupler and that part is not stripped and appears to be in good working order. The belt also is in working order.
Answer Hello Ben, you'll want to remove the front panel from your washer by releasing the two clips located underneath the front of the lid. Once you've removed the front panel, you want to look for a blinking light on your motor. If you can count 4 rapid blinks and a pause, the unit has detected an issue with the mode shifter WH38X10017. You can perform an ohms test on the mode shifter to verify it's defective, it should read across the red and yellow wire approximately 98 ohms at room temperature 10% -/+. If all this is good, you'll want to test for power when the unit goes into an agitate cycle at the pins for the mode shifter connector. For the first 15 seconds of the agitate cycle you should be getting 135 vdc, after that you should only be getting 30 vdc. If no power is present, you'll want to make sure the harness is good before replacing the timer WH12X10348. Hope this helps! Read More...
