By: Ge
Part Number: OEM11389446
Manufacturer Part Number: WR17X11843

The Evaporator Drip Pan is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. This pan collects condensation and defrost water, preventing leaks and water damage to your kitchen floors.

Causes for replacement often stem from physical damage, such as cracks or holes that allow water to leak out. Over time, the drip pan may also become brittle and more susceptible to damage due to the constant exposure to moisture and temperature fluctuations.

Symptoms of a bad Evaporator Drip Pan include:

  • Water accumulation under or around the refrigerator
  • Mold or mildew smell coming from beneath the refrigerator
  • Overflowing, indicating a crack or hole in the pan

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Jackson S for Model Number TBX22PRYGLAA

Top Freezer; water is dripping inside refrigerator section and collecting on shelves and under crisper drawers. Although I had removed the drain line and cleaned it thoroughly last year; rechecked but it is completely open. Suspect rusted out drain trough. Are there videos or directions for accessing this and replacing it, if necessary? Could there be any other causes? (It only drips for a short time every other day or so, meaning it is not the water supply for ice.)

Answer

Jackson, It would be more likely that the drain trough WR17X2243 would be clogged with ice rather than rusted (although this is possible). Unfortunately there are no videos showing how to replace. You would tilt the evaporator out and the trough should be screwed to the back wall of the unit.
