Gary W. for Model Number JGSS66SEL1SS I carefully switched out the top burner orifices and both oven and broiler orifices to the correct propane units (checked the individual orifices for the correct stamped number against the manual three times before installing each). Also flipped over the pressure regulator orifice so the LP arrow was pointed in the direction of gas flow. The top burners and oven work perfectly, the flames are steady blue with intermittent yellow tips. The broiler also works, except the for the fact it sounds like a kazoo for 5 seconds every time the gas begins to flow into the broil tube and the flames first appear. The kazoo sound then slowly fades away and the broiler flames remain. My wife doesn't want the kazoo. I replaced the broiler tube thinking the sound may have come from something wrong with the slots which made the sound when the gas passed them. The new broiler tube didn't eliminate the kazoo sound. What could be the reason for the kazoo sound on broiler startup?
Answer Hello Gary, This is normally generated by a gas pressure issue. You should verify the correct gas pressure to the unit and ensure that the broil orifice hood is tightened to snug at the bottom, without overtightening. Nearly 99% of complaints pertaining to a noise of a gas orifice or valve are caused by a gas over or under pressure issue. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, May 31, 2018
