This gas valve control regulates the flow of gas to a burner in your range, enabling reliable ignition and precise flame adjustment. Replacing a worn valve restores smooth knob operation and consistent burner performance.

  • Meters gas to a single burner as the control knob is turned
  • Works with the ignition system to light and sustain the flame
  • Typical symptoms include a burner that won't ignite or lights intermittently
  • Flame will not adjust or is unstable; knob feels tight, sticky, or turns without proper control
What's included: One gas valve control Install notes:
  • Disconnect electrical power and shut off the gas supply before servicing
  • Allow the appliance to cool and work in a well-ventilated area
  • Note the valve's orientation; transfer any model-specific fittings or hardware from the original valve as needed
  • After reassembly, restore gas and check all connections with an approved leak-detection solution; verify proper ignition and flame control

Questions & Answers

For Ge Valve Control (Gas) (Part Number: OEM7899813)

1 Answer

Marc, the igniter WB13K21 should take 30-60 seconds to ignite, if it is taking longer than this, the igniter may be weakening and causing the amp draw to diminish. If the igniter does not continuously draw 2.6 amps, then the valve will engage or disengage accordingly.

Hello Barry, I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to post a new question including the complete model number from your units' I.D. tag so we can recommend parts that can be guaranteed to work properly on your unit. The ignitor, bake burner, and oven safety valve should be replaced on this unit before attempting to use it again. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

This concerns the correct broiler deflector (# WB34X28689) placement/attachment to the broiler burner (# WB16X28251) and broiler igniter glowbar (# WB13X24755). 1) Does the deflector plate sit above the little horizonatal tab at the back of the broiler burner? Or does it slide in below that tab? 2) Does the deflector plate sit above the entire glowbar protective frame? Or does it slide in so the plate is inside the upper part of the glowbar protective frame? Thank you, Gary

1 Answer

Gary, The deflector plate will be above the horizontal tab and above the glowbar protective frame.

I carefully switched out the top burner orifices and both oven and broiler orifices to the correct propane units (checked the individual orifices for the correct stamped number against the manual three times before installing each). Also flipped over the pressure regulator orifice so the LP arrow was pointed in the direction of gas flow. The top burners and oven work perfectly, the flames are steady blue with intermittent yellow tips. The broiler also works, except the for the fact it sounds like a kazoo for 5 seconds every time the gas begins to flow into the broil tube and the flames first appear. The kazoo sound then slowly fades away and the broiler flames remain. My wife doesn't want the kazoo. I replaced the broiler tube thinking the sound may have come from something wrong with the slots which made the sound when the gas passed them. The new broiler tube didn't eliminate the kazoo sound. What could be the reason for the kazoo sound on broiler startup?

1 Answer

Hello Gary, This is normally generated by a gas pressure issue. You should verify the correct gas pressure to the unit and ensure that the broil orifice hood is tightened to snug at the bottom, without overtightening. Nearly 99% of complaints pertaining to a noise of a gas orifice or valve are caused by a gas over or under pressure issue.

Thank you for your previous answer. Before ordering any parts I thought I'd remove the bake burner tube and see if there was anything clogged, or if there might be a hole burned in it. So I removed the door, bottom drawer, and bottom panel for access. On my particular model the bake burner tube is attached at the rear as well as the front. The rear burner screws (and the screws on the control valve) are very tough to get at. I may get them out, but I would not be able to get my fingers back there to replace them. Nor would I have enough room to properly secure the other tubes to the valve. Without removing the bake burner tube I inspected it as thorough as I could and there were no clogged holes, deformities, or burn marks. Am I missing something obvious here, or do I need to remove all the shields and guards for replacement access? Thank you.

Grizz, With the issue that you are having, the most likely cause with the burner checking out ok would be a faulty oven gas safety valve. The part number for the valve is WB19K36.

I replaced the oven igniter in 2012 when it was taking too long for the oven to heat. I replaced the broiler igniter last month when the broiler quit lighting. Both repairs solved the respective issues. But for the last 6 months or so the oven makes a "poofing" sound almost every time the oven goes on. It started out once in a while and got progressively worse. I hear a soft click like the valve is getting the signal, and then a "poof" as the gas comes back on. It does not happen in broiler mode and there are no issues with the burner jets on top. All flames throughout the range seem to flow freely and I have no other issues. I just replaced the oven igniter again because it was the cheapest option, but it did not fix the issue. It may sound strange, but if I listen very closely, sometimes it actually sounds like I can hear (what sounds like) the valve opening very slowly. I think I need a new valve control, but I am asking for your opinion. Thank you

1 Answer

Hello Grizz, This can be the gas valve, a gas pressure issue, or the burner. I would have the utility board check the pressure and if no problem is there, replace the gas valve WB19K36 and bake burner WB16K10035.
