Jojo My GE washer fills, spins and drains but does not agitate. I have removed the agitator and the agitator coupling does agitate back and forth. How do you know if the agitator coupling needs replacing or what do you think is wrong with it?
Answer JoJo, You'll need to remove the bolt and lift the coupler off the agitator shaft, and check for damaged splines in the center opening of the underside of the coupler. If the splines are OK, you'll need to make sure you have the agitator snapped and "locked" down on the coupler. The coupler will move with the shaft, without a "load" but with the agitator installed and a load on it, if the coupler is "stripped" the agitator won't move. Read More...
