Dan K August 03, 2024 for Model Number WJRR4170E0WW GE Profile Washer. The agitator wont spin. I removed the agitator to get to the coupler. The Coupler is agitating but when I snap the agitator back on it does not agitate again. I have ordered new coupler because the agitator looks it good shape. Maybe the coupler is worn on the outside? What else can be the problem? Thanks Dan
1 Answer Dan, as the coupler was able to agitate when the agitator was removed, and the agitator does not appear to have any damage, it is very likely that either the mounting bolt is damaged or the coupler is excessively worn. The coupler kit WH49X10042 does include both. Read More...
John F. February 05, 2023 I bought the following and have watched the video many times. It seems straightforward. This item: GE Washer agitator coupler kit (WH49X10042) $22.90 GE Agitator assembly (WH43X10034) $72.93 I put the kit on and used the screw from the new assembly. The screw is not long enough. Should I buy the GE Hub nut (WH2X1193) $15.90
1 Answer John, The hub nut will not be the screw that you are needing. The hub nut holds the tub in place and not the agitator coupler. If the screw is too short, check to ensure that the coupler is fully seated and if it is then just reuse the old bolt. When installing it put a little blue loctite on the threads. Read More...
J January 01, 2021 for Model Number WJSR1070A1WW I am replacing the coupler for my GE washer and and it was quite difficult to remove, I then cleaned up the mess with a dry rag and vacuum. But, I can’t seem to get the coupler back on, I do not want to put too much downward force on the part as it is supposed to just slide on. Any other’s with this issue?
1 Answer J, When installing the coupler onto the shaft, you have to get the splines lined up and sometimes this requires twisting the coupling to get it to slide in place. Also, make sure that the splines are not corroded or damaged. Read More...
Pearidge November 05, 2020 for Model Number WJSR2080T2WW I can't get my agitator coupler off. I was able to get my bolt off fairly easily. How do I need to get the coupler to pull off?
1 Answer pearidge, a few drops of penetrating oil or rust buster into the opening where the agitator bolt was removed, may help. You can also use a belt or nylon strap, slip it under the coupler and use the strap to pull up on the coupler, it will give you better leverage. The last resort would be to use a "Dremel" tool or similar device to "cut" the coupler into pieces and remove it. Read More...
Rk Smith November 05, 2020 for Model Number WJSR2080T2WW My agitator was floating in the water. Something has been wrong with it for a couple of weeks. I just noticed that the agitator would NOT stay down during the washing. I think that the agitator coupler needs replaced. I ordered the agitator coupler after I watched a video on replacing the agitator coupler. I CAN NOT get the old coupler off. I unscrewed the bolt from the coupler without difficulty, but now I can't get the old coupler to lift out. What am I doing wrong? Is there something else after the bolt on the coupler to remove? Thanks, RK
1 Answer RK, It doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong. The coupler can seize to the agitator shaft, after a few years of usage. After the agitator and coupler bolt are removed, a few drops or rust blaster or penetrating oil may help to make it easier to remove the coupler, You can also "cut" the coupler into pieces and remove it using a "Dremel" tool as a last resort. Don't forget to check the locking tabs on the center of the bottom of the agitator, if they are broken or damaged, the agitator will not secure to the coupler properly. Thanks, Read More...
Chris June 21, 2020 for Model Number VBXR1070VV0WW This is a Hotpoint washing machine. My coupler has gone to the bad. Is this the right coupler? In the video it says to use the new bolt. On mine it does not have a hole in the top of the shaft to bolt it down too. What do I need to do? Thanks
1 Answer Chris, Per the model number you have given, WH49X10042 is the coupler for your unit and is located under the agitator. Read More...
Ben March 21, 2020 for Model Number wjsr2080t8ww When I try and slip on new agitator won't slide on very tight. Should I put some tape on shaft or vasoline?
1 Answer Ben, If you have only replaced the agitator then the agitator coupler could be damaged and not allowing the agitator to sit right. Read More...
Jeffsb November 26, 2019 for Model Number GHWN5250D0WS Washing machine goes through cycle and spins. In spin cycle it make a very loud banging sound. Opened up panel -- the balancers are on and the rubber tie downs on. Can it be the agitator/coupling? I pulled off the agitator and put back on. It seems to have a little movement when I shake it)
1 Answer Jeff, We wouldn't expect the agitator coupler to be the issue, there can be a " little" up & down and side to side play in the agitator, but shouldn't make a "very loud banging sound." You'll want to check the motor, counterbalance, and base of the washer to see if anything is loose, broken or bent. check the base to see if the motor and carriage has been banging or rubbing against the base or housing, indicating the top "apron".has started to "droop". You didn't mention any leaks or discoloration inside the cabinet, so you'll need to check and make sure the hub nut isn't loose and check the agitator and spin tube shaft for any excess wear, play, and discoloration, that could create a loud banging noise in the spin cycle. Carlo November 24, 2018 for Model Number WHRE5550K2WW I got my agitator off and the coupler, the splines all lol fine and it all catches as I can control the movement with my hand when turning the coupler back and forth. I think the coupler is grinding against the washer beneath it. Should there be a rubber washer in between?
1 Answer Cario, There is a washer WH02X10283 that is showing just above the hub nut where the coupler would slide down onto the shaft. Read More...
