Glenn for Model Number PFSS6PKXESS When dispensing water I get about a cup then this knocking sound starts and the water comes out in spurts. I removed the filter, which I replaced less than 30 days ago, and replaced it. When I did the sound started again, I guess when water was coming in. My question is - is the filter head bad or the water filter valve?
Answer Glenn, As a general rule, water valves make a "buzzing" or "chattering" noise, and the low water flow will be constant. A faulty water filter head assembly will make a "buzzing" or "knocking" noise and the water pressure will fluctuate and can stop the water flow completely. At this point, you may want to replace the WR17X12512 GE Refrigerator Water Filter Head and make sure you install the new filter carefully. Read More...
