KA, I am assuming you are referring to the water line from the house connection. This is a threaded connection and would require a wrench to remove it.

Glenn, As a general rule, water valves make a "buzzing" or "chattering" noise, and the low water flow will be constant. A faulty water filter head assembly will make a "buzzing" or "knocking" noise and the water pressure will fluctuate and can stop the water flow completely. At this point, you may want to replace the WR17X12512 GE Refrigerator Water Filter Head and make sure you install the new filter carefully.

Chris, a water valve can sometimes cause a water hammer effect, so can high water pressure. I would check your water pressure first, it should be around 60 PSI. Anything getting over 100 PSI can cause plumbing problems. The part number for the valve would be WR57X10091

Rich, If it is just the ice that is not making and water comes out to the dispenser then you would want to check to make sure that there is power getting to the water valve when the icemaker calls for water. If there is power to the valve but no water flowing then the valve is faulty.

Janis, The WR57X10091 Water Fitting(water inlet valve) is a common issue for your type complaint. It is possible for one valve solenoid to fail, and the other solenoid to operate properly. But your idea of filling the ice maker mold with water, and allowing it to form and dispense the cubes to the bin, will help to pin point the problem. You can also "test" cycle the ice maker ( To activate the icemaker cycle, press and hold the start button approximately 3 seconds), and use a multi meter or test light to see if you get voltage to the fill valve solenoid when the ice maker reaces the fill portion of the ice making cycle.

Doug, You will want to get the icemaker to cycle and then test at the water valve for 120 vac when the icemaker calls for water. To cycle the icemaker there is a test button on the right side where the icemaker and the icemaker support meet.

Hello Mike. Check and make sure the water line is not frozen. If not, and there is power to the valve but no water, you will need to replace the valve on the unit. Thank you.

Dave, The most likely cause for the issue of the icemaker not making ice would be a water valve that is not pumping water into the icemaker. Check the fill tube to make sure that it is not frozen also.
