Ka October 22, 2022 for Model Number PFSS6KXESS I am looking to replace the water valve assembly. The fridge has no Ice and no water is being dispensed. Is there a special way to remove the line attached to the back end of WR57X10091? For the other line, I know you can depress the fitting a bit to remove the line. but not sure how this other line can be removed. I have looked around the site and did not see any videos on how to safely remove that line.
1 Answer KA, I am assuming you are referring to the water line from the house connection. This is a threaded connection and would require a wrench to remove it. Read More...
Glenn September 10, 2020 for Model Number PFSS6PKXESS When dispensing water I get about a cup then this knocking sound starts and the water comes out in spurts. I removed the filter, which I replaced less than 30 days ago, and replaced it. When I did the sound started again, I guess when water was coming in. My question is - is the filter head bad or the water filter valve?
1 Answer Glenn, As a general rule, water valves make a "buzzing" or "chattering" noise, and the low water flow will be constant. A faulty water filter head assembly will make a "buzzing" or "knocking" noise and the water pressure will fluctuate and can stop the water flow completely. At this point, you may want to replace the WR17X12512 GE Refrigerator Water Filter Head and make sure you install the new filter carefully. Read More...
Chris May 30, 2020 for Model Number GE Profile PFSS9SKYASS Refrig when trying to get water or auto filling ice tray, refrig makes a loud sound like water hammer. is this the water valve or something else?
1 Answer Chris, a water valve can sometimes cause a water hammer effect, so can high water pressure. I would check your water pressure first, it should be around 60 PSI. Anything getting over 100 PSI can cause plumbing problems. The part number for the valve would be WR57X10091 Read More...
Chris January 04, 2020 for Model Number PFSS6PKXESS Does my frig have more than one valve? Do all valves use 110 vac? What if I get 4-10 vac without call for water & 0 vac with call for water?
1 Answer Hello Chris, the unit has a set of water valves listed under part number WR57X10091 and yes, they run on 110 vac. Read More...
Rich September 14, 2019 for Model Number PFSS6PKXESS No ice in an ice maker or water dispenser. Replaced filter head and filter. Good flow to the inlet valve. Still nothing. 1. I have read about the water tube freezing. Is that as common in the bottom freezer models? 2. Seems like the next step is to replace the inlet valve but hesitant to purchase if that is not the problem. Thanks in advance
1 Answer Rich, If it is just the ice that is not making and water comes out to the dispenser then you would want to check to make sure that there is power getting to the water valve when the icemaker calls for water. If there is power to the valve but no water flowing then the valve is faulty. Read More...
Janis Carris June 12, 2019 for Model Number DFSS9VKBASS GE refrigerator Dispenses water but ice maker doesn't fill with water. I put a few ice cubes in bin it dispenses them . Just doesn't make ice on its own. Should fill the ice cube tray with water and see if that works. Thank You
1 Answer Janis, The WR57X10091 Water Fitting(water inlet valve) is a common issue for your type complaint. It is possible for one valve solenoid to fail, and the other solenoid to operate properly. But your idea of filling the ice maker mold with water, and allowing it to form and dispense the cubes to the bin, will help to pin point the problem. You can also "test" cycle the ice maker ( To activate the icemaker cycle, press and hold the start button approximately 3 seconds), and use a multi meter or test light to see if you get voltage to the fill valve solenoid when the ice maker reaces the fill portion of the ice making cycle. Doug July 29, 2018 for Model Number PFSS9KYASS Ice maker has stopped making cubes and is not re-filling with water. Water dispenser on door is functioning. Do you think the cause is water valve or icemaker unit?
1 Answer Doug, You will want to get the icemaker to cycle and then test at the water valve for 120 vac when the icemaker calls for water. To cycle the icemaker there is a test button on the right side where the icemaker and the icemaker support meet. Read More...
Richard A. July 10, 2018 for Model Number PFSS6PKXESS Water is collecting under the vegetable bins. It is not coming from the water reservoir. It seems to be coming from some sort of fixture on the center the wall of the unit just to the right of the water reservoir. The build-up is part liquid and part ice.
1 Answer Hello Richard, This will either be the water tank WR17X12741 leaking or possibly the water filter MWFP and/or housing WR17X12512. Read More...
Mike April 01, 2018 for Model Number ge gfss6kkyss Making ice just fine but water stopped coming out of dispenser. Is this the water valve?

Dave February 04, 2017 for Model Number GFSS6KKYCSS Stopped making ice. Replaced ice maker, made ice once. Replaced main board. Still no ice. What could be wrong?
1 Answer Dave, The most likely cause for the issue of the icemaker not making ice would be a water valve that is not pumping water into the icemaker. Check the fill tube to make sure that it is not frozen also. Read More...
