Ernie for Model Number TPX24PRBJBB Hi. I have a leak where the plastic tubing from the water dispenser on the refrigerator door inserts into the compression fitting of the water valve behind the machine. The water valve works fine and I and hoping that it doesn't need to be replaced. I was going to pull the compression fitting apart and inspect. Possibly cut the tubing (as little as needed) and re-insert. Have you run into this before and do you have any suggestions? Thanks
Answer Ernie, You're pretty much on target. you don't really need to " pull the compression fitting apart and inspect." It's not repairable, and it is a self sealing compression fitting. Just press in on the collar that surrounds the tubing and pull out on the tube. Cut off the damaged part of the tube, make sure it's a straight, clean cut remove any burrs on the end of the tube. Press in on the collar insert the tube as far as possible and release the collar. Tug lightly on the tube, to make sure the tube is locked and sealed in place. Read More...
