Water inlet valve controls water flow to the refrigerator's dispenser and ice maker. Replacing a failed valve restores normal water delivery and can resolve symptoms like no water, weak flow, or continuous running/filling. What it does:

  • Opens to allow water into the ice maker and dispenser when requested.
  • Closes to stop water flow and prevent overfilling.
  • Common symptoms: no water from dispenser, slow/weak water flow, or the ice maker not filling.
  • Also used when leaks or intermittent water flow are traced to the inlet area.
What's included: One water inlet valve. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and shut off the home water supply before servicing.
  • Relieve line pressure by dispensing water or gently loosening a downstream connection.
  • Inspect fittings and seals; tighten connections snugly but avoid overtightening.
  • After installation, turn on water and power, check for leaks, and verify dispenser/ice maker operation.

Ernie, You're pretty much on target. you don't really need to " pull the compression fitting apart and inspect." It's not repairable, and it is a self sealing compression fitting. Just press in on the collar that surrounds the tubing and pull out on the tube. Cut off the damaged part of the tube, make sure it's a straight, clean cut remove any burrs on the end of the tube. Press in on the collar insert the tube as far as possible and release the collar. Tug lightly on the tube, to make sure the tube is locked and sealed in place.

Hello Andy. Make sure the power and water is turned on and you are pressing the lever to make it work. Unhook lines from bottom of valve and see if water comes out there. If so, the valve is fine and you have a blockage somewhere in the unit.

Rich, This water valve incorporates a john guess fitting in which you would push in on the white ring around the tubing and at the same time pull the tubing out.

Hello Earl, If the water is coming out of the ice chute, the water dispense is not the issue. Open the freezer door and remove the ice bin. Use a flashlight to see if water is coming from the ice maker fill tube. If so, replace the water inlet valve WR57X10019. If not, check the bottom of the ice maker to see if it's hot. There could be a set of contacts in the ice maker motor control module that is keeping the mold heater on. This will constantly melt the ice. Be careful when you check it! It gets plenty hot enough to raise a blister! Let us know if we can assist you further.

Hello Ronald, The fitting you are referring to is a compression fitting. Teflon tape will not fix a leak on a compression fitting because the threads don't seal, the point of compression does. If you have a copper line to the unit, you will need to use a tubing cutter to cut off the end of the line, and install a cap and new ferrell onto the line. Push the line all of the way into the valve half of the fitting. Hold pressure against the line into the valve while you tighten the compression nut. If you have a flexible line that appears to be made of a rubber material, this line will require replacement because these have a rubber "o" ring in it that has torn and nothing can stop this leak. If you have a translucent small plastic line, this needs to be replaced anyway as this style has been identified as the cause of much water damage and should not be used on a line containing water pressure constantly. If you absolutely refuse to change this style line and use it anyway, you will need to find some plastic ferrell fittings because the metal ones will cut the line when tightened.

Hello R Taylor. No, you don't need to install support pieces into the lines, you will just press the lines into the water valve WR57X10019 fittings.

Hi R.T. Unfortunately we live in a man made part world with plastic welding processes. The internal water valve pressures along with the unit vibrating normally after all these years will naturally make it inevitably with all of these valves leak irregardless of the units badge name. It will only need replaced. Part # WR57X10019 . Consider changing the house water supply valve to the units water valve mentioned supply hose so the old plastic or copper line does not break either. It is part # W10505928RP. Thank You.

Hi Patti. There are locking tabs purposely put on the top middle of the terminals. Use a pick tool to reach inside and release the terminal locks. The water valve is part # WR57X10019. Thank you.
