Ernie October 23, 2014 for Model Number TPX24PRBJBB Hi. I have a leak where the plastic tubing from the water dispenser on the refrigerator door inserts into the compression fitting of the water valve behind the machine. The water valve works fine and I and hoping that it doesn't need to be replaced. I was going to pull the compression fitting apart and inspect. Possibly cut the tubing (as little as needed) and re-insert. Have you run into this before and do you have any suggestions? Thanks
1 Answer Ernie, You're pretty much on target. you don't really need to " pull the compression fitting apart and inspect." It's not repairable, and it is a self sealing compression fitting. Just press in on the collar that surrounds the tubing and pull out on the tube. Cut off the damaged part of the tube, make sure it's a straight, clean cut remove any burrs on the end of the tube. Press in on the collar insert the tube as far as possible and release the collar. Tug lightly on the tube, to make sure the tube is locked and sealed in place. Read More...
Andy July 23, 2013 for Model Number tps24pibe I am replacing my water inlet valve on my ge tps24pibe refer. I have connected water and have plugged the red electrical connector to the red cylinder and the white to the blue but nothing is working..
1 Answer Hello Andy. Make sure the power and water is turned on and you are pressing the lever to make it work. Unhook lines from bottom of valve and see if water comes out there. If so, the valve is fine and you have a blockage somewhere in the unit. Read More...
Rich B June 08, 2013 for Model Number TPS 24BICEBS How do I remove the clear plastic water output water line from the valve.
1 Answer Rich, This water valve incorporates a john guess fitting in which you would push in on the white ring around the tubing and at the same time pull the tubing out. Read More...
Earl July 07, 2012 for Model Number TPX24BRBJBB Water is running out the ice chute of the icemaker. It has a water dispenser, too. Icemaker or water valve failure? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Earl, If the water is coming out of the ice chute, the water dispense is not the issue. Open the freezer door and remove the ice bin. Use a flashlight to see if water is coming from the ice maker fill tube. If so, replace the water inlet valve WR57X10019. If not, check the bottom of the ice maker to see if it's hot. There could be a set of contacts in the ice maker motor control module that is keeping the mold heater on. This will constantly melt the ice. Be careful when you check it! It gets plenty hot enough to raise a blister! Let us know if we can assist you further. Read More...
Ronald July 05, 2012 for Model Number TPS24BIDABS Hello, this new valve has a fitting, threaded that is under the black boot on this valve. This is supposed to be for the line coming from the house. This area is where the leak occurs now. Is there a way to prevent this. I think if I replace this valve the way it is we will have the same leak. Can I use a Teflon tape on this one? Thank you. Main issue is leaking from house hose.
1 Answer Hello Ronald, The fitting you are referring to is a compression fitting. Teflon tape will not fix a leak on a compression fitting because the threads don't seal, the point of compression does. If you have a copper line to the unit, you will need to use a tubing cutter to cut off the end of the line, and install a cap and new ferrell onto the line. Push the line all of the way into the valve half of the fitting. Hold pressure against the line into the valve while you tighten the compression nut. If you have a flexible line that appears to be made of a rubber material, this line will require replacement because these have a rubber "o" ring in it that has torn and nothing can stop this leak. If you have a translucent small plastic line, this needs to be replaced anyway as this style has been identified as the cause of much water damage and should not be used on a line containing water pressure constantly. If you absolutely refuse to change this style line and use it anyway, you will need to find some plastic ferrell fittings because the metal ones will cut the line when tightened. Read More...
R Taylor May 22, 2012 for Model Number TPX24BRBJ BB When inserting the plastic tubes is there a suppose to be a brass or similar support piece needed to be in the end of the tube? Or Just push in a clean cut plastic tube. Thanks
1 Answer Hello R Taylor. No, you don't need to install support pieces into the lines, you will just press the lines into the water valve WR57X10019 fittings. Read More...
R. T. May 09, 2012 for Model Number TPX24BRBJ BB Why would fitting on this valve suddenly leak after 13 years? Can they be tightend or do I need to replace the valve?
1 Answer Hi R.T. Unfortunately we live in a man made part world with plastic welding processes. The internal water valve pressures along with the unit vibrating normally after all these years will naturally make it inevitably with all of these valves leak irregardless of the units badge name. It will only need replaced. Part # WR57X10019 . Consider changing the house water supply valve to the units water valve mentioned supply hose so the old plastic or copper line does not break either. It is part # W10505928RP. Thank You. Read More...
Patti G. September 21, 2011 for Model Number TPX24BDRA BB How do I get the existing wiring off of the blue and red plugs? Do they just pull off?
1 Answer Hi Patti. There are locking tabs purposely put on the top middle of the terminals. Use a pick tool to reach inside and release the terminal locks. The water valve is part # WR57X10019. Thank you. Read More...
