The LG lever button is an OEM replacement part responsible for enabling the dispensing of ice from the refrigerator's ice maker. This part is located on the front panel of the refrigerator ice and water dispenser area. When the ice lever actuator is pressed it activates the mechanism that dispenses ice into a glass or container.

Over time, the lever button can become worn out or damaged due to frequent use, physical impact, or accidental mishandling. If the button fails, it can hinder the functionality of the dispenser, making it difficult to obtain water or ice.

Symptoms of a bad lever button include:

  • Difficulty in pressing or activating the dispenser
  • The dispenser not responding when the button is pressed
  • The lever button feeling loose or unstable
  • Visible cracks or damage on the button

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Mike for Model Number LMX25981ST

Can this be installed without removing the whole ice/water faceplate, tray, etc.? I'd like to replace it myself as the two tabs on top have broke off but am unsure if it clips in by sliding up or some other way. Any trick or pictures/video would be great. If not, I can make one and send it your way, just want to be sure I don't break the tabs off trying to force it in. I'll also look at the diagram to see if there's a photo of the back to see how it clips in. Thanks

Answer

Mike, due to the spring that is used on this lever, the installation would require the faceplate is removed. Using a small putty knife, the faceplate can be removed by gently applying pressure to release the locking tabs from the door frame.
