The LG lever button is an OEM replacement part responsible for enabling the dispensing of ice from the refrigerator's ice maker. This part is located on the front panel of the refrigerator ice and water dispenser area. When the ice lever actuator is pressed it activates the mechanism that dispenses ice into a glass or container.

Over time, the lever button can become worn out or damaged due to frequent use, physical impact, or accidental mishandling. If the button fails, it can hinder the functionality of the dispenser, making it difficult to obtain water or ice.

Symptoms of a bad lever button include:

  • Difficulty in pressing or activating the dispenser
  • The dispenser not responding when the button is pressed
  • The lever button feeling loose or unstable
  • Visible cracks or damage on the button

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

For Lg Lever Button (Part Number: OEM15050316)

Mark for Model Number 79572049316

I recently removed the water button lever from my 79572049316 LG refrigerator. I found a YouTube video that showed how the person slid the bottom of the piece to the left and then pulled up on the right side edge. That seemed to work for me. Putting the piece back in was much more problematic. I tried to reverse my steps but the catch-points on the bottom of the piece (MBG64224802) would not slide back into position. I eventually broke the plastic arms and needed to purchase a new piece. Any hints on how best to get the lever back into the face of the door? Thank you

1 Answer

Mark, with the dispenser assembly removed, the lever MBG64224802 can be placed in with the arms in at the same time as the hinge bracket. This will allow just enough movement to be able to get the bracket into place.

Anthony for Model Number LFXS29766S/01

My LG Refrigerator water dispenser lever suddenly became loose and wobbly. During my troubleshooting, I removed the lever from the dispenser, where I found on the backside (4) tabs but only (1) spring was in place, where it appeared (3) were missing. The spring are just standard round springs (not the ones I've seen in the parts list that have the flat straight ends) My QUESTION: Should there be more that (1) spring and if so, are these round springs available to purchase? Thanks for any help you can provide.

1 Answer

Anthony, There would only be one spring behind the dispenser lever if there was supposed to be one. Normally the lever will have a spring on the rod that holds the lever in place and not behind it. It does not appear as though the spring is available as part of this unit.

Mike for Model Number LMX25981ST

Can this be installed without removing the whole ice/water faceplate, tray, etc.? I'd like to replace it myself as the two tabs on top have broke off but am unsure if it clips in by sliding up or some other way. Any trick or pictures/video would be great. If not, I can make one and send it your way, just want to be sure I don't break the tabs off trying to force it in. I'll also look at the diagram to see if there's a photo of the back to see how it clips in. Thanks

Mike, due to the spring that is used on this lever, the installation would require the faceplate is removed. Using a small putty knife, the faceplate can be removed by gently applying pressure to release the locking tabs from the door frame.

Debbie, the panel MCK66542801 that the dispenser paddle goes onto should have 4 connector arms for the paddle. If these arms are broken, then this can cause the paddle to not stay on. The springs are responsible for pushing the paddle out away from the engaged position and are interchanged from the old paddle to the new paddle.

Dave for Model Number LFX25975ST

I am assuming that part # AP5016769 is the water dispenser button on my LG fridge model # LFX25975ST. The present one gets stuck and I'm afraid my kids will flood the house by leaving it on. Is it simple to replace? Hopefully I don't have to pull out the entire dispenser panel to replace it. I looks like it has only two tabs on the top of the button and an assembly that goes well into the dispenser , but I don't want to break anything. Thanks for any replacement directions.

1 Answer

Dave, Yes this will be the button lever for your unit and the dispenser will need to be removed to replaced this part. To do this you will want to remove the drip tray and push down on the area where the drip tray was and pull out. This should pop the dispenser cover out.
