Tk for Model Number 79571036010 Hello. My refrigerator is not getting cold enough. The compressor runs and cycles (turns on and off periodically), and the fridge section holds 38F, but the freezer only gets to about 25F. This had only changed recently, when it used to hold about 5F. There is no excessive frosting on the evap coil that I can see without pulling the panel, and I don't see any sign of a leak near the compressor (oil), and the condenser coils are clean and the fan is running. One other oddity is that when I cycle through the freezer settings on the front panel, it skips a couple of numbers, ie, button presses show 0, -1, -2 -3, -4 then skips -5, then shows -6, and also skips +7 in the above zero section Is the problem likely a bad sensor in the freezer section, a bad controller board, or a bad compressor or compressor charge? The unit is about 8 yrs old and had run without issue up until now.
Answer TK, You will need to pull the rear panel and check the coils for a frost pattern. Half frost pattern while running indicates a sealed system issue and full frost pattern then probably the temp sensor if the compressor and fans are running. Don't forget the condenser fan in the back needs to be running also whenever the compressor is running. Condensor coils must be clean as well. Read More...
