The Temperature Sensor is an OEM part for LG refrigerators, designed to monitor and relay the temperature inside the refrigerator to the control board. This component ensures that your refrigerator maintains the correct temperature to keep your food fresh and safe to eat.

Over time, temperature sensors can fail or become less accurate due to wear and tear, environmental factors, or electrical issues. This can lead to problems such as the refrigerator cooling too much or not enough, resulting in food spoilage or excessive energy consumption.

Symptoms of a bad Temperature Sensor include:

  • The refrigerator or freezer is too warm or too cold, despite setting adjustments
  • Unusual fluctuations in temperature, indicating the sensor is not accurately detecting or communicating the internal temperature
  • The refrigerator runs constantly or more frequently than normal, attempting to reach the desired temperature

This OEM LG part is also compatible with some Kenmore models.

Edwin for Model Number 79572053114 model ser. no305kr02393

refri works proper defrost and stays at assigned temp (defrost perfectly) i know that refri works on a different cycle than freezer. the freezer has different coil ( defrost) checked heating coil in freezer resistance read 0 on Rx1 continuity. Don't have a schematic so does the freeze have a complete circuit for defrost. which means half of control board could be bad. how to test both circuit to tell which is bad. thanks getting on nerves.

Answer

Edwin, Unfortunately, we do not have the wiring schematic on this unit but you would test the defrost heater, defrost thermistor to make sure that they are good and if they are good then you would replace the control board. The control board will control each defrost circuit differently. The defrost heater should have a resistance reading and if it is showing 0 resistance then the heater would be faulty. The thermistor reading should be around 5K at room temperature and there is a fuse next to the filter that should have continuity.
