Manufacturer Part Number: 6615JB2005H

The Defrost Sensor Assembly is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. This integral component plays a key role in monitoring the temperature within the refrigerator's freezer section, particularly during the defrost cycle. It ensures that the defrost system activates and deactivates at appropriate temperatures to maintain efficient operation and prevent frost buildup.

Symptoms of a faulty defrost sensor assembly include:

  • Excessive frost or ice accumulation in the freezer
  • Refrigerator or freezer section experiencing temperature fluctuations
  • Defrost cycle not running or running too frequently

Causes of defrost sensor failure often involve damage from moisture or ice, electrical faults, or degradation over time, which can lead to inaccurate temperature readings and improper defrost cycle regulation.

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore.

Dave L for Model Number LG LFC25760ST Refridgerator

Last pm I heard the fan in the freezer making noise and saw Ice on the back wall of the freezer. I removed all the frozen food took the bin and tray out. I then used a hair dryer on low to defrost it. I think I spent about 15 minutes. The fan made no noise after that and is running. The problem is now the fan shuts off and I get a beeping warning as though one of the refridg doors or freezer door is open but they aren't. All the switches on the doors are fine and all the lights are off when they are closed. If I open the freezer door and manually press the light switch up the fan will come on when the freezer light goes off as normal.. I actually taped the switch closed and thought it might be the switch. After several minutes the fan turned off and the beeping returned. could it be the defrost sensor? I am not getting any error codes. The compressor and cooling fan run normally and when the freezer fan is running the unit is cold. Thanks!

Answer

Hello Dave, Since the defrost sensor kit 6615JB2005H is a relatively low cost part it would not hurt to change it to see if this helps the situation. If this does not correct the issue, there is a real possibility that the issue is caused by the main control board 6871JB1423N.

Answer

Dave, Based on the description of the problem this would likely be an issue with the defrost sensor possibly being faulty. Also check for any type of air leaks around the door which could also cause this type of issue.
