Customer Questions and Answers for Evaporator Fan Motor Assembly (Refrigerator) by Lg

Manufacturer Part Number: 4681JB1029A

This evaporator fan motor assembly circulates cold air across the evaporator coils and throughout the cabinet to keep temperatures even. Replacing a worn motor restores airflow and helps reduce warm spots and grinding or squealing fan noise. What it does:

  • Circulates air across the evaporator and through vents to cool the refrigerator and freezer compartments
  • Helps maintain uniform temperatures and consistent airflow throughout the cabinet
  • Common failure signs: weak or no airflow, refrigerator section warmer than the freezer, or whining/rattling fan noise
  • Fan typically runs only with the door switch closed; lack of operation with the switch closed can indicate a failed motor
What's included:
  • Includes: 1 evaporator fan motor assembly
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing; interior panels and liners can have sharp edges
  • Access is typically behind the rear panel of the freezer or fresh food section (varies by model)
  • Disconnect the wiring harness, remove the old assembly, and install the new one securely with wiring routed clear of the blade
  • Restore power and depress the door switch to verify fan operation and airflow

Juan for Model Number LG LSC26905TT

Refrigerator stops cooling every 4th day. When check freezer coils they are frozen just from the middle to the top. The bottom part that is near the defrost heater assembly is not. I got to use a hair blower to defrost the top part twice a week and is driving me crazy. A repair man check the coils, the thermistor and the heater assembly and they were ok. Then ordered the main board but nothing change. Please help!!!! I got a picture but don't know how to send it from here. Thanks!

Answer

Juan, Based on this issue there will either be one of 2 problems, the first would be that the sensor is not registering a good resistance reading or the unit has a sealed system leak causing the upper half to freeze over and the lower half to stay clean.
