Answer Byron, In most cases, if the motor won't run or runs erratically, it is due to a failed or malfunctioning RSP switch or damaged windings in the stator. In your case, if the " plastic grove piece" in the center of the rotor assembly is damaged, this would be due to a tub bearing or sinner support arm that have worn out and allowing the tub and spinner to rotate out of balance and is wearing out, damaging the center housing/bearing in the rotor.
