Kevin for Model Number LGR7646EQ3 How can I tell if my dryer drum seals are bad? I'm troubleshooting a drying issue. I've already disconnected the vent still did not dry cloths took 3 cycles, checked thermostats all checked good .1 - .2 ohms, thermister 9.9 ohms. The drum seems to be loose as if felt seals are worn so its either that or the moister sensors. Thoughts, suggestions with part numbers would be very much appreciated. Thank you
Answer Kevin, You can visually check the rear drum bearing, by looking at the felt seal in the gap between the drum and the rear bulkhead. You'd be looking for holes or tears and missing areas. The front drum seal/bearing isn't as easy, you'll need to remove the front panel and check the bearing and seal attached to the inside of the front panel around the door opening. There is always some "play" in the drum and bulkhead area. We wouldn't expect the moisture sensor to be an issue, but you may want to "clean" the assembly especially the metal bars, with a rag and rubbing alcohol, this will usually remove any fabric softener residue or debris that could cause an issue if the dryer is shutting off too soon. As this should be gas dryer, you most likely have a set of weak gas valve solenoids 279834 causing the dryer to heat intermittently, and taking too long to dry the load. Read More...
