Manufacturer Part Number: 4036ER2004A

The Tub Seal Gasket is an OEM part for LG washing machines. It creates a tight seal between the inner and outer tubs during the wash cycle, preventing leaks and containing water. The gasket helps prevent water from escaping the tub.

Causes of a bad gasket can include wear and tear from repeated use over time, exposure to cleaning chemicals or extreme temperatures, or damage from handling heavy loads.

Symptoms of a bad gasket include:

  • Water leaking from the outer tub during operation
  • Excessive moisture in areas surrounding the washer
  • The tub making creaking or grinding noises
  • Decreased washing or spinning performance

This OEM LG part can also be used on Kenmore/Sears appliances.

Peter for Model Number LG WM0642HW

I intended to change the bearings. All went well until I had to get the drive shaft out of the bearings. Instead of an easy tap with a mullet I needed a puller. That worked. However, the bearings do not come out, no matter how hard I pound on them. Can I buy the whole metal assembly with the bearings? I tried to remove that but after unscrewing 23 bolts it still would not move out of the plastic part. It seems I am not the only one who has that problem. I bought the bearings and seal from you and would appreciate an answer ASAP.

Answer

Peter, It can be difficult to remove these bearings. Once you have pried out the inner seal, take a long punch and knock out the lower bearing first, work your way around the bearing until it comes out. You can use a rust or lube type solvent to help loosen the bearing. Once that one is out, you should be able to get the other bearing to pop out.
