Wagthedog for Model Number LG DLE5001W Electric Dryer

LG 5001W Electric Dryer lights up, but will not accept any commands and will not turn, even on "Time Dry"-- nothing. We always keep the filter and duct, which is very short, clean. I went inside to clean the interior, and found some extraneous lint inside, but not very much, with no big buildup on heat sensor or fan, etc., at all, however, the Belt was broken. I ordered a belt from your website (which arrived in only 2 days!) and replaced the belt without much trouble according to your video. However, it's just as before-- the Control Panel lights up, the "Drying" light is on, and it still won't accept any commands or turn the drum under any circumstances. This is getting frustrating. The dryer is only 2 years old, and has already had a belt replaced twice now, and had another problem that the repairman said was a circuit board and some other problem. We can't pay $169 every 6 months just to have wiat a week for some guy come out here and then bill me another $140 for parts and have to wait 2 more weeks for the parts to arrive. Is there a "reset" breaker or something I've missed? You have a great website, but it was difficult to find a video that showed how to take apart an LG Electric Dryer of our type (but the video on disassembly of the LG Gas Dryer was virtually identical and most helpful-- Thank You!) [Rant Alert--] Our previous "ancient" Kenmore ran well for many years and many heavy loads, and the one time a component did fail, was simple and easy to repair without taking the whole damn thing apart. These "modern" so-called "high-efficiency" dryers (and washers) can barelydry a light-to-medium load of clothes, WON'T handle a load that includes more than 2 towels, twist everything into a long string of clothing, and break down every 6 months or less with some problem or another. The interior components seem to be "featherweight-flimsy" as well. I'm beginning to think they're a terrible joke on the consumer, it seems. Help!

Answer

Hello WagTheDog. These units have a belt switch. You need to make sure it is correct since the belt broke. Also, check the thermal fuse and the door switch on the unit.
