Yooper for Model Number 79579753904 We press button for ice to dispense and it makes a sound like it is trying to crush ice even when it is on cube setting. then the flapper door stays open long after you release the button while making the same sound. Is this the solenoid? We have a Kenmore elite, model # 79579753904 I do not believe it is the solenoid that switches between crushed and cubed ice. There is two solenoids, correct? any help would be greatly appreciated.
Answer Yooper, The most likely solenoid that has failed would be part number 6421JB2002B. If the dispenser is not dropping the ice then check the arm for the ice door where it connects to the solenoid as it may be damaged and not sitting under the solenoid arm in order to open the door.
