Keith for Model Number LFC21770ST/03 My fridge is working but making a clicking noise. I think it might be the thermistor but I was wondering if there is a way to check. If it is bad what part would I need to replace it. Thanks, Keith
Answer Keith, The refrigerator making a clicking noise would typically not be caused by a thermistor. If you want to test the thermistor, at room temperature of 77 degrees it would have a resistance of 5k ohms. With the unit working you will want to check around the fans to make sure that there is no issue with the fans having ice around them and causing the noise. Also you will want to check to make sure that it is not the start relay that is clicking by pulling the unit out and checking the for the noise behind the unit. The other thing would be to make sure that the ice is ejecting properly. If the heater on the icemaker is not coming on then it can cause the icemaker gears to slip and make the clicking noise.
