LBJ, If you are getting power to the compressor but the compressor is not coming on then this will be a faulty compressor that will need to be replaced.

Robert for Model Number LFC21770ST/01

Hello, my LG refrigerator, Model LFC21770ST/01 repeatedly clicks. It does maintain both fridge unit and freezer unit temps. The unit clicks intermittently, "resting" about 3-5 minutes before attempting to start the compressor. Once running, it runs fine. I have isolated the clicking noise to the Thermistor Assembly, Part Number: AP5953061 (303B on your schematic). Your site states this part has "been discontinued by manufacturer". Can you offer alternative parts, and any other advice? Thank You!

Robert, if you haven't yet checked for proper voltage to the start device from the main control board, you need to. Check for 110 VAC across pins 5 and 6 (blue and black wires on the start device)and/or at the outlet, when the compressor tries to start and clicks. If the voltage is within range, then the CLS30820101/CLS30820101 Thermistor Assembly, otherwise you'll need to check the wiring and replace the main control board. The manufacturer no longer sells the part. We can no longer get it from any of our suppliers. There is no substitute for the part available to us and we don't know of any other source for the part. You may want to contact local parts dealers, one of them might still have it in stock. Enter your part number in a search engine, a smaller company might have it. Try eBay, Amazon, or similar sites. Search by using the manufacturer's part number. Try a used appliance store, sometimes they have the same model or usable part for your machine. Thanks,

Chris, Usually, the capacitor does not fail. More likely the start relay on the unit has failed and you can order part number CLS30820101. Check the compressor windings to make sure it is within specs. Also check each winding to the compressor housing and make sure it is an open line for each terminal of the compressor.

Keith, The refrigerator making a clicking noise would typically not be caused by a thermistor. If you want to test the thermistor, at room temperature of 77 degrees it would have a resistance of 5k ohms. With the unit working you will want to check around the fans to make sure that there is no issue with the fans having ice around them and causing the noise. Also you will want to check to make sure that it is not the start relay that is clicking by pulling the unit out and checking the for the noise behind the unit. The other thing would be to make sure that the ice is ejecting properly. If the heater on the icemaker is not coming on then it can cause the icemaker gears to slip and make the clicking noise.
